Racehorse Profile

Nicely Done made pleasing progress through 2017.  She has shown a good level of ability without advertising herself too much to the handicapper in the process.  As a result we believe she is well placed to be a success when handicap hurdling and eventually when jumping chase fences.

We had been keeping tabs on this mare for many months, given that we knew Nicely Indeed, her half brother, was such a talented individual (now rated 119).  When the opportunity to buy her presented itself, we were quick to move in and make an offer. She was a relatively expensive purchase as a 4YO, but we believe she could be well worth the 30k GBP price tag.

Nicely Done needed her first few races on the flat in Bumpers for the penny to drop, but when switched to hurdles she started to show her ability.  She will achieve her handicap mark in last 2017 and will be very competitive in handicap hurdles and chases.

She is a good size - over sixteen hands - and jumps a hurdle well and we expect her to jump a chase fence in time.  She also has a very good attitude and is forward going, although in her first few races she tended to look around a lot, this has become less of an issue as she has matured.

The plan for her is to continue over hurdles, potentially starting in January.  She will race until Seamus believes she needs a rest, have about 4-6 weeks off, and then return to race through the summer period.  This share period will be altered accordingly, as the season develops so that shareholders don't miss a run all the way from January right up to next November.  we expect her to be very competitive in handicap hurdles and she may even jump a chase fence later in the season - she is certainly bred to do so.

This filly has been well handled to ensure that when she starts her hurdling career in handicaps, she will be well placed to make the most of a lenient mark. we will have plenty of fun with her from the get-go, and she has already shown form over distances which are probably too sharp for her.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a very likeable filly with a very decent background and breeding. Seamus Durack sees a lot of traits in her which her brother Nicely Indeed holds, but critically, she is very straight-forward and by a stallion who produces very successful young jumpers.

  Breeding Information

Nicely Done (5YO in 2018) Bay Mare - April 2013
By Mahler out of Rare Dollar (Bobs Return)

This mare is by the breakthrough National Hunt Stallion of the last couple of years, Mahler. He won the 2m Queens Vase and was third in the Melbourne Cup.  His record as a stallion has improved with every year and he now stands for £5,000 per covering. He has a reputation for producing very decent young horses.

Rare Dollar has produced several offspring, but only two have raced so far.  Her first foal is a moderate hurdler, but Nicely Indeed, her second foal, is a 130+ rated hurdler who won twice in Bumpers.

Race Plans

The race plans for this mare will be determined by her level of ability shown at home and on the course in 2018.  She will be starting off in handicap hurdle races and may even be jumping chase fences by the end of the summer.

Seamus has a plan to take her handicap hurdling, which could mean racing her from January onwards (if so, we will start hjer share period early), but she will get a break of about 6 weeks at some point in 2018 - perhaps in the worst of the winter weather, or the height of the firm ground in summer.

If, as we believe, she shows that she is a very decent handicapping prospect, then she will race over hurdles throughout the spring an summer.  We will assess her progress and if Seamus believes she has the right level of ability she may get entries for some of the more prestigious races in the racing calendar. This filly has been racing over two miles to date, but it is clear that she will be stepped up in trip as the season develops.

Your online Racehorse Manager will provide full details of all developments in terms of race planning as the season progresses.

Value Guarantee

We expect to get 3-7 runs and possibly more from this racehorse in his share period, however, you should expect periods of no racing as a result of recuperation from injury or training setbacks.   This share period starts April 1st 2018 and runs through the spring and summer to November 1st 2018.  However, if the mare runs between January and April, these runs will be covered in full for shareholders as we will bring the start of the share period forward.

Please note that we do expect this filly to require a break during the season of about 6 weeks at some point.

During the share period this horse may be rested or have time away from the track to recover and it is quite normal for a racehorse to have periods of 3-6 weeks rest between races. Young horses are particularly susceptible to sore shins, bone chips and growing pains, and can need a greater time to recover between races. This mare may have breaks when the ground is particularly against her.

For this mare we offer the following guarantee:  If due to injury or retirement, her season is cut short and she will not race again, and he has not raced at least twice, we will replace her with another, if possible, similar racehorse for the remainder of her share period. Please note that we are unable to pay prizemoney on any replacements and the replacement will be a horse of our own choosing.

As a shareholder you must understand that we cannot guarantee your horses performance, a specific volume of runs (beyond our minimum guarantee) or that runs will be evenly spaced throughout the share period.  This is the chance you take when owning any racehorse and participating in this ownership experience.  If you will be disappointed with only 2-3 runs from this racehorse during the season, then please DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS OR ANY OTHER RACEHORSE.  We believe in being crystal clear with our shareholders - any participation in racehorse ownership is extremely high risk, and we are unable to make any refunds because of share periods which finish early due to injury or retirement - as training and livery fees for the horse still remain whether they are racing or not.  This is the chance all shareholders take, as we do ourselves, when participating in the ownership of a racehorse.
