Racehorse Profile
Hello Cotai needs no introduction to shareholders. This gelding was bought back at the Tattersalls in-training sale in October 2025. He raced successfully in our colours in 2024 before moving to France when trainer Adam West re-located there in autumn of 2024.
We are delighted to be able to offer him again for our shareholders in 2026 when he became available again at the Horses In Training sale in October 2025. We looked at his career in France and he had held his form well but had not run since July. With our knowledge of the gelding we believed that having been racing since January, he had needed a break. He will now get a long break as he won't race until spring of 2026.
He was a very popular gelding through the 2024 season. He raced 11 times in our colours, winning twice at Epsom over an extended mile on Good ground. He was second on a further three occasions. He is likeably versatile acting on various grounds and he does have ability to stay 10f. He is possibly ideally suited by a mile on Good ground, or ground with a little bit of cut.
Trainer Jim Boyle told us "I knew that he would be a popular choice for shareholders who had been involved with him previously and so was intrigued when he became available again at the sale".
"I had a really good look at him before he went through the ring and he looked in good shape. He trotted up sound and was told he had just needed a break as he had gone off the boil a bit after quite a busy few months. He will only be five going into next season and so hopefully after he's been freshened up he will be ready to go again for a buusy season in 2026" added Jim.
Hello Cotai returns to the UK rated 70. This means there will be plenty of opportunities for him to be finding races. As a course winner at Epsom he will be ideally placed back with Jim at his South Hatch Stables base. He was also placed at Salisbury, Goodwood and Nottingham, so there won't be any shortage of options for him. Hello Cotai only ran occasionally on the All-Weather in the UK, he was not disgraced at either Lingfield or Kempton.
During his season in France he did win on the All-weather at Chantilly. That track is a Polytrack surface - the same surface that is found at Lingfield, Kempton and Chelmsford. This now proven ability to act on the Polytrack should only increase the options available to Jim to find races for the gelding
Shareholders that were with Hello Cotai through 2024 will recall the gelding is not without his quirks! He could be a little mulish on occasions, sometimes a little difficult going to post and on one occasion reluctant to enter the Winner's Enclosure after a victory at Epsom. Despite these idiosyncracies, once he was racing there was no doubting his battling qualities which he showed on numerous occasions..
Hello Cotai will return to Epsom from Newmarket and be allowed to settle in at South Hatch Stables. He may recognise his old friends Daisy Roots and Big Bear Hug who are also there. He will have a winter break and commence training in the New Year ready to return to action in the spring of 2026.
We will report on the gelding's progress for shareholders on an ad-hoc basis in early 2026, reporting on the progress with his training - and we will provide regular updates on his progress on the gallops in detail from March onward. During the heart of the season, we publish update reports every 7-10 days, and more regularly when Hello actively starts racing in spring.
This is an opportunity to become involved in a horse who has already shown a good level of ability. He comes with a good history with many shareholders and we will be looking for him to pick up where he left off in 2024. We are delighted that Jim Boyle secured Hello Cotai for us as the trainer did superbly well with both Daisy Roots and Big Bear Hug in 2025, training both horses to career high victories.
Form & Race Plans
The race plans for this gelding will be determined by his level of ability shown at home and on the course in 2026. At the moment he is likely to start racing in late April or May over six furlongs.
Hello Cotai is currently rated 70. However, we are expecting he may climb up the ratings with Jim Boyle in charge of his training. He will race at tracks such as Epsom, Salisbury, Goodwood, Windsor, Brighton, Lingfield, Kempton, Nottingham, Chelmsford, and Leicester. If he climbs the ratings he may get entries at more prestigious courses.
Your online Racehorse Manager will provide full details of all developments in terms of the horse's progress and race planning as the season progresses.
Hello Cotai 2026 Guarantee
We expect to get 3-8 runs and sometimes more from all our 3YO+ horses per share period, however, you should expect periods of no racing as a result of recuperation from injury or training setbacks.
This share period will start on April 1st 2026 or when the gelding has his first run, and will finish on November 1st 2026, however, we will be reporting on the horse before the share period starts should we have anything of importance to share with shareholders. If the gelding should race before the official start of the share period we will bring the start of the season forward for shareholders as an added benefit.
During the season the horse may be rested or have time away from the track to recover and it is quite normal for a flat horse to have periods of 3-6 weeks rest between races. All horses are susceptible to sore shins, bone chips, breathing issues, and growing pains, and can need time to recover between races.
We provide guarantees with all our racehorses. If this horse has a season-ending injury and has not already RACED TWICE during the share period, we will replace him with an alternative horse for the remainder of the season. Replacement horses may not be of the same quality, are provided with no further guarantees and no alternative choice can be provided. Prizemoney cannot be paid on any replacements, but all other benefits such as yard visits and race day badges are available.
As a shareholder you MUST UNDERSTAND that we cannot guarantee your horse's performance, a specific volume of runs (beyond our minimum guarantee) or that runs will be evenly spaced throughout the share period. This is the chance you take when owning any racehorse and participating in this ownership experience. If you will be disappointed with only 2-3 runs from your racehorse during the season then please DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS OR ANY OTHER RACEHORSE, as you may be disappointed. We believe in being crystal clear with our shareholders - any participation in racehorse ownership is a risk, and we are unable to make any refunds due to share periods that finish early as a result of injury or retirement - as training and livery fees for the horse still remain whether they are racing or not. Please also be aware that a portion of your lease payment covers the build-up to the horse's season.
By buying a share you accept the risks outlined above. They represent the chance we and all our shareholders take when participating in the ownership of a racehorse.
