Lets Go Hugo - improving with age

Let's Go Hugo has been a shade unlucky during the 2023 flat season, recording two seconds and a host of good runs that didn't work out because of the ground or a poor draw. However, the 3YO gelding put that right last saturday with a sterling effort in a Wolverhampton sprint. As soon as they hit the furlong pole, victory was assured with 'Hugo' winning at odds of 4/1 after being backed in from 14/1 the previous evening.

Hugo ran out a rather cosy winner of this five furlong race at Wolves and he has now won in each of his seasons for his shareholders. Seven pounds claimer Brendan Wilkie was aboard Hugo and gave the gelding a super ride, switching him off for the first half of the race before producing the 3YO at just the right time to come through and make the race his own.

This son of first-season sire Unfortunately ranged up over a furlong out and went on to win with something in hand. He will also improve with age, as he is a half brother to both Roaring Rory (won 6 times for our shareholders, retired aged six) and Ready Freddie Go (8 times winner for our shareholders - still racing).

Lets Go hugo is expected to return to Wolverhampton in November in an attempt to try and back up his win off a mark 4lbs higher.
