Keldeo delivers our second 2YO success of the season and Bobina looks set to follow in her footsteps
We've had a busy start to the week here at Ownaracehorse, with four runners over a 24 hour period - and that provided our shareholders with two winners at 3/1 and 33/1! However, that's not the full story...
On Monday evening we saw Daisy Roots go all the way to Ffos Las to contest her eighth race of her career and run out a worthy winner of a £10k added event run on soft ground. Daisy Roots has done all her best work on a surface with a bit of cut in it and everything was set up for a big win (her price was crushed from 11/1 overnight to 3/1 at the off). She worked her way into second over one out and under a well-judged ride from Callum Shepherd, she got up to win by a neck. She will now head for another 1m handicap while there is soft ground still available.
Then, only 18 hours later two of our youngsters ran in the same Novice 5f race at Beverley. The market showed that there wasn't a great deal expected of our two, but we knew better, advising Keldeo shareholders to back her each way, as she had been working well on the gallops following her debut run. In the event, Keldeo ran out an easy three length winner. As well as that exciting performance, in behind was Bobina. She was slow away on debut, and was last with a furlong and a half to run, but picked up incredibly well, sything through the pack in the closing stages and finishing only a length behind the second placed horse (a two-time winner). A step up to six or seven furlongs should see her winning a similar race.
