Painted Cliffs delights at Stratford and is now available for his winter hurdles campaign

Painted Cliffs, the ex-Aidan O'Brien Group 2 winner has returned to the track over hurdles this weekend and proved he's not only still capable of racing, but it looks like he has really taken to hurdling!

The 6YO went to Stratford and ran in a relatively hot Class 3 Novice Hurdle (winner rated 140) over 2m and half a furlong and finished fourth, only just pipped for third in the last few strides. He really needed that race after 4 years off the track, and was having a good blow afterwards. He'll be a strip fitter next time and trainer Tommy Gretton is really looking forward to the gelding's next outing, probably in three weeks time.

We had waited for this first run over hurdles, to make sure the gelding would be suitable for syndicating this winter. But we were delighted when Tommy Gretton, his trainer, reported that the gelding was bouncing this morning. He clearly enjoyed the experience and with no sign of the issue which kept him off the track for the last eighteen months. It's now onwards and upwards!
